Introduction and Welcome
An introduction to the Disability Narratives project, its aims and its audience.
Hello, I'm Caroline Moughton, the University Staff Disability Advisor. Welcome to the Disability Narratives website which shares the stories of some of the people with a disability or long-term health condition working at the University of Oxford. Whether you're looking at this website because you've got a disability or long-term health condition yourself, or you're a manager or colleague, or just looking from general interest, we hope that you'll find something useful to take away.
Supporting our Staff
We know very well that our position as a world-class University depends and relies on the dedication and hard work of many people working and studying here, and in order to maintain this position we need to draw on the talents and the contributions of all our staff and students. We want to make sure that we're doing all we can to provide every member, every opportunity to reach their full potential.
Who is the site for?
- Firstly, our disabled staff to enable them to share the hard-won knowledge and experience of others.
- Secondly, our managers and colleagues, to help them understand the lived experiences of their colleagues and how to support them.
- we also hope that the material from the site can be used in training to support the whole University in becoming more disability aware.
Enabling voices to be heard
In this series of interviews, Oxford people talk about what their issues are and about what support has been effective for them in their work. We hope that decision makers will listen to these colleagues and will take their narratives to heart.
