Video clip: Richard explains the importance of disability rights in helping him feel confident to claim their entitlements.

Yes. I don't think I know that much in detail. I know the broad outlines. And I think they are immensely important. Because again, they formalise things. They publicise things. And I think they're incredibly important for giving people a sense of confidence. It's one thing to have to go and ask for equality, if you know you are legally entitled to it - it gives you a lot more confident in thinking I'm not - to use a colleague's phrase - playing the disability card. Which I find an incredibly offensive phrase.
