Disability Narratives
Support from managers and department
Interview excerpt: John’s manager was able to help him find a space to recuperate, which helped him manage his chronic fatigue syndrome.
© Disability NarrativesWithin my college obviously kind of when I started, I was in touch with the disabilities officer in college. Which is actually my - essentially my immediate line manager, my, the senior tutor. And so I've been in touch with her. I had a kind of sustainable mode of working and living, and that I'd already been well adapted to this by the time I started my position. So it was really just a case of adapting kind of things like work hours, and having a space to rest. So [the] senior tutor within college was instrumental, for example, in getting me this office with a reclining chair. So I'm thankful that they can at least help me to do that.
