Women in Science

Back to the Topic

Video clip: Marta explains some of the initiatives the Computer Science department run for women.

Are you aware of the Athena Swann initiative?

What do you think about that?

I think it's a very good initiative which I support, and my department is taking it seriously. We have OxWoCS, which is the Oxford Women's Computer Society. They organise the Oxbridge conference between Oxford and Cambridge, as well as various meetings, distinguished lectures, which are given by prominent women, mentoring workshops, CV workshops, etc. They've been very successful with getting sponsorship from Google and Facebook, and other companies, so it is a very good initiative.
