Video clip: Marta largely enjoys writing grant proposals and has had some successes, but still finds it 'heart-breaking' when unsuccessful.

On the whole I feel that I've been very successful with funding. I've kind of applied for and I got a few million pounds. I've had an ERC advanced grant, I have an EPSRC programme grant, and before that I've had various grants from EPSRC, the EU and Microsoft. I had some industrial funding as well. I enjoy writing grant proposals because I enjoy thinking about what I would like to do, planning and making an argument. But of course, it's hard work and it's heart-breaking if you don't get the grant.
