Video clip: Priyanka found doing a PhD a lot of responsibility to take on, but it also taught her how to be resilient and resourceful.

And what was the experience of doing the PhD like?

It was definitely harder than I expected especially towards the end I'm sure a lot of people would agree it's a lot of responsibility to shoulder because it's your own idea it's your own project and that was also something very different from what I'd done so I'd always been part of a team, part of a small group so doing everything sort of on my own with some input from my supervisors was quite difficult but I think I learned a lot about how to do research, what kind of questions to ask, that's the most difficult aspect of doing research is recognising the problem and then knowing what to ask to go about solving it. And also I learned a lot about myself in terms of resilience and resourcefulness and independence because I was living on the other side of the world doing this very difficult thing and, you know, not really having a support system outside of my supervisors that was quite challenging.
